tHE hONEYMOON

Honeymoon traditions vary across cultures and throughout time.  For whatever reason, consider taking some time away from family, friends, jobs, and other parts of your life to relax after the stress and turmoil of planning a wedding.  Enjoy some one-on-one time with each other, and take in what's just happened. You're married!
By the time many couples get to planning the honeymoon, they may have found themselves short on cash.  The expectations from others of how the wedding should be, how extravagant the reception should be, and what other special touches were added to the festivities at the last minute may have added dollar signs to the point where the honeymoon needs to be redesigned.  Here are some ideas to help you save money on your honeymoon:
  • Work with a travel agent.  They often know of special deals, when is the best time to buy tickets, etc.
  • If you book your own hotel, air, car or restaurant reservations for the honeymoon, let the booking agent know you're on your honeymoon.  Sometimes they have special deals, added perks, upgrades, etc. they throw in that may not lower the cost but may add value or special touches you may not otherwise have afforded.
  • Scour the internet for coupons!  Discounts exist everywhere.  Vendors may also be willing to tell you where to go to find their coupons, assuring you do business with them rather than their competitor.
  • Consider waiting to take your honeymoon a few months later than your wedding date.  Traveling off-season to certain destinations can save you a bundle!  You also have more time to save up.
  • Change the type of honeymoon you take.  Instead of flying to French Polynesia for two weeks and staying in a five-star tiki hut over the water, consider other destinations closer to home, less expensive and all-inclusive resorts.  All-inclusive resorts help you budget better since most costs such as drinks, meals, transportation and some entertainment are included in the package price.
  • Consider staying in bed and breakfasts or private apartments or homes instead of hotels.  Sometimes you can find some very special places to make memories that you would not have otherwise discovered.  Websites such as airbnb.com, bbonline.com and vrbo.com should get you started.
Most of all, try not to schedule yourself too heavily.  Planning a wedding is stressful, and takes lots of energy.  You or your spouse may need the time to sleep in and physically recover from what can be an emotional roller coaster ride to get to this point.

Well I hope that I have given you some helpful tips, tricks and advice along the way, and I hope also that you have decided to let me be a part of your special day!  If you have, please contact me right away to assure my availability.  Thank you!
